UV Flexo Varnishes

 

 

 

A comprehensive selection of flexo varnishes are available from Cavendish.

They include:

 

(i) UV Gloss Varnish

This varnish cures quickly to give a high gloss coating with good slip and rub

resistance on a wide range of substrates.  Its low odour once cured makes it

suitable for labels and other indirect  food packaging applications.

 

It can be applied by roller coating or flexo printing unit.  It is not suitable for

glueing or hot foil blocking.

 

(ii) UV Thermal Vanish

This is the varnish to use for direct thermal printing applications, when printing on

top-coated thermal papers.  It has fast cure, high gloss and slip, and exhibits low

wear characteristics on thermal heads.

 

It can be applied by roller coating or flexo printing unit.  It is not suitable for glueing or

hot foil blocking.

 

(iii) UV Thermal Semi Coat Varnish

This varnish has similar properties to the standard UV Thermal Varnish, but is specially designed for use with thermal papers wil lowe top-coat weight, having a reduced

tendency to "set off" the thermal coating.

 

(iv) UV Foil Blockable Varnish

This varnish gives a high gloss coating with excellent glueing and foil blocking

properties and good slip.

 

It is best applied using a flexo printing unit.

 

Adhesive and foils should always be tested for suitability with this varnish before

production runs are commenced.

 

(v) UV Matt Varnish

This varnish gives a matt-finish coating with excellent smoothness and slip.

 

It is best applied by roller coating.  It is not suitable for glueing or hot foil blocking.
