IsoTect
Product Information
Cavendish Inks announce the launch of 'IsoTect'
IsoTect has been specifically developed as an active antibacterial coating or pigmented ink system.
IsoTect can be supplied in all forms of coatings or inks, UV curable, water or solvent based and does
not alter the overall performance of the chosen vehicle.
The active ingredient within the IsoTect range is Hygienilac which is already in use in the furniture and
floorcovering finishing industry, supplying hospitals, care homes, schools and the leisure and
hospitality markets.
Isotect works by creating a printed surface which actively inhibits and stops the growth
of most common bacteria, including e.coli, c.difficile and MRSA along with many other forms of
bacteria by forming a protective barrier in the dried and cured printed surface.
It is also effective against common viruses including , H1N1, H3N2, SARS virus , herpes simplex.
As the active ingredient was originally developed as an antifungal additive it retains this property as well.
Potential applications for this product are many and various, including:
Every day throughout the world, millions of people come together in their everyday lives, all of us
handle and purchase products on a day to day basis. Increasingly we are concerned of possible
infection and cross contamination especially following recent media coverage of so called 'super bugs'.
Touch and visual impact is increasingly an essential part of our modern day-to-day living - we at
Cavendish believe that the development of IsoTect is an important step forward in helping make
this experience safer and reduces overall health risk. The antimicrobrial properties of IsoTect will
last intact for the lifetime of the coating, as long as the coating is complete and coherent.
How Does it Work?
It prevents the bacteria's access to nutrients, so they starve and die.
It has a bacteria kill rate of over 99.9%.
It remains effective over the life of the product and coating because of its inherently
low water solubility.
Testing Procedure?
Coatings & inks containing the active ingredient within IsoTect have passed British Standards
BS6250 tests for severe usage.
The active ingredient also has approvals from the following recognize agencies.
What bacteria does it work against?
Coatings and inks have been successfully tested against the following bacteria.
Specimen certificates for the above are available.
